What are the early signs of pregnancy?

Do you think you could be pregnant but it is too soon to take a test? Whilst a pregnancy test is the way to know for sure, here is a list of some early signs of pregnancy for you:

1. Fatigue: Extreme, unexplainable fatigue could be an early sign of pregnancy, make sure you don’t treat the fatigue with caffeine as this will be harmful to your baby. Listen to your body, take it easy, and try to keep well-rested.

2. Food Aversions: Being “off” your food could also be a sign of early pregnancy. The best thing you can do to help yourself through this is to steer clear of triggers. If you notice food issues that weren’t there before, it could be your body telling you you’re pregnant.

3. Sensitivity to Smells: Scents that were never pleasant and even ones that were pleasing can make you queasy during pregnancy’s early stages. This is likely a result of rising hormone levels.

4. Nausea and Vomiting: Nausea and vomiting can be some of the first indications that you’re pregnant. One of the things that can help expectant moms get through their first trimester is the reassurance that the nausea and vomiting will likely pass by 12 weeks.

Watch what you are eating. Have small, more frequent meals throughout the day to help with nausea and vomiting. Eating ginger flavoured sweets can also ease queasiness.

If you are vomiting and nauseous often, speak with your doctor about medication options.

5. Breast Swelling and Tenderness: Breast changes may be another early sign of pregnancy. Tender and heavy-feeling breasts, darkening of the areolas and even more pronounced veins on your chest can be a first sign that you’re pregnant.

6. Frequent Urination: Are you finding you are going to the toilet more often? During pregnancy your body produces extra fluids, which has your bladder working overtime.
